The Department of Biological Sciences is domiciled in the School of pure and Applied Sciences located at the main campus in kitui. The departments main mandate is to train personnel in various fields of biological science at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The programmes offered are designed to meet the job market demand in academic, research and industrial establishments.

Entry Requirement:
- KCSE Mean Grade C+ (plus) with a minimum of Grade C in Mathematics, Grade C in Biology/Chemistry/Physics for Bachelor of Science
- KCSE Mean Grade C+ (plus) with a minimum of Grade C in Mathematics, Grade C+ in Biology and Grade C in Chemistry for Bachelor of Science in Biology
- KCSE Mean Grade C+ (plus) with a minimum of Grade C in Mathematics, Grade C+ in Biology and Grade C in Chemistry for Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
- KCSE Mean Grade C+ (plus) with a minimum of Grade C in Mathematics, Grade C+ in Biology and Grade C in Eng/Kis for Bachelor of Science in Medical Botany

Entry Requirement:
A bachelor’s degree of South Eastern Kenya University or any other recognised university with at least a Second Class Honors (Upper Division) or its equivalent in a relevant discipline; Or a Second Class Honors (Lower Division) in a relevant discipline with two years of working experience; Or other qualifications recognized by South Eastern Kenya University Senate
PhD Programmes
- PhD in Entomology
Fee Structure:
- Tuition of Ksh. 120,000.00 and Statutory charges of Ksh. 32,500.00
